Welcome to the Nassau County
Young Democrats Website!

I am glad that you have decided to learn more about our group. We are the youth arm of the Nassau County Democratic Party, and are looking to help get Democrats between the ages of 16 and 36 involved in the political process. There are many opportunities to get involved, through our committees, helping with different political races, or by joining us at one of our meetings, socials, or community service events.

I hope you will follow us on Twitter (NassauYDs) and join our Facebook Group. We have a lot of exciting things coming up in the next few months, and I look forward to seeing you there!

We have some wonderful committees for you to get involved in. They are Community Service, Policy and Issues, and Media. If you are interested in finding out more about them, I urge you to contact us! Our board meetings are the third Thursday of every month at 7PM at Nassau County Democratic Headquarters 1 Old Country Road Suite 430 Carle Place NY 11514.

The Democratic Party is one of two major contemporary political parties in the United States, along with the Republican Party. The party's socially liberal and progressive platform is largely considered center-left in the U.S. political spectrum. The party has the lengthiest record of continuous operation in the United States, and is one of the oldest political parties in the world. Barack Obama is the 15th Democrat to hold the office of President of the United States.

As of the 112th Congress following the 2010 elections, the Democratic Party currently holds a minority of seats in the House of Representatives, but holds a majority of seats in the United States Senate.
